Hosted by Russia, the 2018 FIFA World Cup will be starting in June 14th and end on July 15th.
We have talked about how much money is bet on the event and the odds of winning that are currently offered to each team.
However, you can’t win if you don’t know who you should bet on.
This is why today we are going to offer you our perspective on how the event is going to unfold.
This is our World Cup 2018 predictions along with some betting strategies you can use to maximize your winnings.
Betting will not do you any good unless you win.
So read on to find out how you can do just that.
Our World Cup 2018 Predictions
Initially, we are going to give you our predictions on who are the two top teams we believe will make it through each group to the stage of 16.
In the first group, the teams are:
- Saudi Arabia
The host country, in our case Russia, is always guaranteed a place in the event’s 32 teams without needing to play in any qualifying rounds.
However, they don’t appear to be in a bad shape as in the last friendly match they played they managed to get a 3-3 tie against Spain, who is one of the strongest teams in the world.
The other favourite of the group, Uruguay, has been doing the exact opposite.
Terrible results and only a few wins here and there with very mediocre teams.
So Russia is for sure going to be one of the two top teams in that group.
Saudi Arabia is totally out of the equation as they have been doing terrible.
Egypt could compete Uruguay but they aren’t that good either.
The second team will probably be Uruguay.
The second group consists of:
For Spain getting to the top 16 must be a walk in the park.
They smashed it in the qualifying rounds. If nothing goes wrong they are for sure going to be in first.
Iran seems like a weak team, right?
We thought too until we found out that they haven’t been defeated even once in the last 10 matches they played.
Morocco has been doing great as well having been undefeated in their last 7 matches.
Portugal, the winner of the 2016 EURO, is on a roll. Throughout the qualifying matches in 2017 they haven’t been beaten even once.
We knew they are very powerful but not that much.
They are probably going to be the second top team unless Morocco or Iran prove to be miracle workers.
Now, this is where things start to get very interesting.
Competing in one group you can’t really know who is going to proceed to the round of 16.
France comes third in the odds of who is going to win the World Cup and we do understand why this happens.
Their offence is maybe the best out of all the other teams’ in the event.
Griezmann and Lacazette will be a powerful duo.
They managed to get a 2-2 tie against Germany who is the favourite to win this year.
They are 100% going to be first in their group.
Australia can’t compete with either France or Denmark but they may have a chance against Peru.
Peru, on the other hand, could prove to be a very tough opponent for the Danish.
This is the toughest one to judge out of them all:
Sure, you would think Argentina will easily rule this group but they haven’t been doing that great.
They have been getting ties against Peru and Venezuela. And they lost 4-2 to Nigeria.
Iceland won Croatia in the qualifying stage and just like Nigeria they may prove to be a tough contender.
Croatia was defeated by many teams considered to be weaker than them. We don’t think they are going to be finishing in neither of the top two places of the group.
We believe that the two top teams are going to be Argentina and Iceland.
Even though Croatia is 9th in the World Cup 2018 predictions we told you why we think they aren’t going to make to the final 16.
This is another difficult group to judge:
- Costa Rica
Brazil isn’t only going to power through this stage but they may be the winner of the event as they currently are in second when it comes to the World Cup 2018 predictions of the outright winner.
The only team that managed to beat Switzerland is Portugal and they are the winner of the last EURO.
Apart from that, they have been undefeated throughout 2017.
They are high in the odds as well.
Neither Serbia nor Costa Rica has been doing well lately so we don’t think they are going to continue to the next stages of the event.
This is why we believe Argentina and Switzerland are going to be in the top 16.
This is probably the easiest one to predict:
- Korea Republic
The Germans haven’t lost since France took them in the semifinals of EURO 2016.
Since then they have played 19 games and didn’t lose, not even once.
Sweden is a powerful team, and even without Ibrahimovic in the offence, as he retired from international football over a year ago, they have been doing great.
The Korea Republic and Mexico haven’t been great but still managed to make it to the event.
We believe that Germany and Sweden are going to finish first and second accordingly in the group stage of the event and thus make it to the final 16.
Did we say that Group F is the easiest one to predict? Scratch that:
This is a walk in the park.
Well, Belgium has such a powerful squad and they have been demolishing every team that played against them in the qualifiers except for Greece who managed to at least get a 1-1 tie and a 2-1 loss.
The same goes for England who got two 0-0 ties from consecutive matches against the two biggest World Cup 2018 favourites, Germany and Brazil.
Panama and Tunisia simply can’t compete with the level of Belgium nor England.
It is almost certain that we are going to see Belgium in first, England in second, Tunisia in third, and finally Panama in fourth.
In this group, we have:
The two favourites, in order of best to worst based on the World Cup 2018 predictions, are Colombia and Poland.
But how exactly are those two teams doing?
Even though Colombia made it they haven’t been doing so great as most of their games against teams of similar power or less ended up on ties.
Poland, on the other hand, has proved to be much better, judging by their last results.
We believe that Poland is going to finish first and Colombia second.
Senegal and Japan are certainly not going to make it to the stage of 16 and it really is very hard to say which one of them is going to be better.
Senegal has been doing better than Japan both in the predictions and in their last matches.
So be that as it may, Senegal is most likely to finish third followed by Japan in the fourth and last place.
