Expekt Review: Do Not Expekt Much

May 11, 2017 5 min to read

Welcome Alpha-Bettors to our Expekt bookmaker review!

Expekt was founded in 1999 by Swedish entrepreneurs Christian Haupt and Conny Gaeser, two individuals with a strong passion for sport and the betting industry.

Expekt was one of the online sports bookmakers in northern europe, which resulted in them having rapid growth in their early years and set the trend of the scandinavian presence in the gambling industry that we know today.

Although we are reviewing the sportsbook of Expekt, the company experienced great amount of growth when they introduced poker onto their platform. Expekt’s main markets of clients are Poland and Sweden.

A marketing strategy that has paid off in terms of exposure for Expekt has been the heavy investment in brand ambassadors. Two examples of Expekts use of brand ambassadors was when they signed Scotty Nguyen as their global brand ambassador for poker and Roger Milla as their football ambassador during the the African cup of nations in the summer of 2009.

In March 2009, Expekt was bought by Mangas Gaming for a reported fee of €125 million. Mangas Gaming bought Expekt in the aim to create a strong European network.

Expekt Review: An Overview

  • Minimum Deposit: €0.10c
  • Rating: 2/5

expekt review is a northern European online betting company with almost 2 million customers registered on their website.

They have moved their base to Gzira, Malta to take advantage of the favourable tax laws for igaming companies on the maltese islands. The company currently consists of 150 people.

The online bookmaker offers a traditional sportsbook, poker, casino games and bingo. Expekt offers its website in 23 languages, which I feel is a great touch for users.

A problem that Expekt are facing currently is that it is being surpassed by bookmakers who were formed years after they did, and have out done Expekt simply due to being more innovative.

The focus of Expekt’s sportsbook on both their pre-match and in-play has been on europe’s favourite sport, football.

Expekt’s Betting Markets

Expekt are a relatively small bookmaker when compared to the more established players in the gambling industry. In terms of their overall product, they are average so it is not surprise that most punters do not have Expekt as a priority.

They offer a fair range of sports on their sportsbook, not anything extraordinary but a good selection nonetheless. These sports are:

Soccer, Tennis, Ice Hockey, American Football, Bandy, Basketball, Baseball, Boxing, Darts, Golf, Handball, MMA, Motor Racing, Rugby Union, Snooker, Winter Sports, Trotting and Volleyball.

Sports such as trotting and bandy are nice adds to their range, adding something unique to their sportsbook.

In terms of odds offered in these markets, they are quite average and easily beaten by the giants of the betting industry in most cases.

Expekt’s Customer Care

I am always put off by customer services who do not offer 24/7 in the gaming industry, and Expekt push it a bit by only offering support 9 hours a day.

The amount of distribution channels Expekt have also is bizarre, with only two channels available. These are live chat and email.

The live chat is available for 9 hours a day and if your problem occurs while this service is closed, you must submit your query through email.

Not even a telephone line is offered, which is a basic necessity of an online sports bookmaker.

The Expekt Mobile App & Website

expekt casino homepage

This is one of the strong points of this online sports bookmaker’s product. Their user-friendliness has been praised on multiple reviews and will be praised on this one.

The design of the website is simple and straightforward, making it a joy to navigate through both their website and their mobile app. Their app is available on both Android and iOS.

The menus and markets are all very well laid out and all features are transparent to the customer, who is in a position to chose where he would like to focus his betting.

Withdrawal & Deposit Processes

Something that always puts punters off is significant charges on transactions, and Expekt unfortunately have this flaw.

With regards to deposit and withdrawal processes, Expekt have a fair range of options available to their registered users. The methods available are as follows:

Deposit Methods:

Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard, Moneybookers, Paysafecard, Western Union, Click and Buy, Bank Transfer

Withdrawal Methods:

Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard, Moneybookers, Paysafecard, Western Union, Click and Buy, Bank Transfer

A nice feature in this sector is that the minimum deposit is currently €.10. (see more bookmakers with a lot minium deposit here)

In-Play Betting

The in-play betting product offered by Expekt is very average, much like their pre-match markets.

A nice touch about this sector is that Expekt offer a decent live streaming service which complements this sector a lot. Although it is not as good as the likes of bet365, it is unusual for a ‘small’ bookmaker to offer this type of service.

Like the pre-match markets their odds, markets and offers are often beaten by major bookmakers.

Sign-Up Bonus

The current sign-up offer that Expekt offer is a free €20 bet on customer’s first deposit in their account.

This is one of Expekt’s strong points as this is one of the most competitive sign-up bonuses in the industry.

Expekt offer some solid promotions beyond their sign-up, most notably on major sports events.

Who Is Expekt Good For?

Unfortunately, I would not recommend Expekt to any punters. Although they do have decent strong points, there is nothing in particular that would convince me to use them over our established bookmakers.

Alpha Sports Betting & Comments

With everything considered, #teamAlpha have decided to give Expekt a rating of 2.0 / 5.0. It is far from being a top product and leaves a lot to be desired in a lot of key areas.
