10 Things You Didn’t Know About Super Bowl

There are so many things we are sure you don’t know about but we tried keeping our list sort by including only the most interesting and fun facts.

1. It Is The Most Viewed Broadcasted Event

In the history of the United States of America, the Super Bowl has appeared many times in the top viewed programs’ list.

In fact, out of the top 20 most viewed programs in the US, the Super Bowl appears in 19 of those, including the number one position as well.

The only other program in this list is the final episode of a popular TV series of the 1970s and 1980s called M*A*S*H.

The Super Bowl XLIX, the 49th one, was the most viewed program to get broadcasted ever in the US television history.

It had a viewership of 114.4 million. Next is the XLVIII, 50, and in the 4th place last year’s one. It also is the second most watched sports event in the world.

The first one is the finals of the soccer Champion’s League.

2. It Gathers The Biggest Amount Of Bets

It is no wonder that with so many amazing Super Bowl betting odds the single-handedly biggest event when it comes to bets is the Super Bowl.

Just to get a general idea of how much money goes into bets for that event we will let you know that about 138.5$ million was wagered on the last Super Bowl, the 51st that is.

This year we believe this record is going to be broken once again and most NFL prediction sites wouldn’t disagree with our statement.

If you want to wager money on the event and don’t know where to bet on the NFL there are countless online bookmakers that at the time of this writing provide some pretty great odds.

As for Betfair Exchange, they provide punters with the biggest odd you can find anywhere on the Internet.

They give the Patriots an odd of 4.40.

They also give Philadelphia Eagles the best possible odd online and it is a 5.60 one.

It would be a good time to place a bet before those excellent odds start to crumble.

3. A Bad Streak

Minnesota Vikings are the only team in the NFL history to have played in four Super Bowls and not win a single one of those.

They are currently on a 4 win streak and a loss in their last five games. Maybe that is a bad sign.

However, they are first in their NFC North Team standings with 6 wins and only 2 losses.

If they make it into the Super Bowl this year I really will not believe it if they lose for the fifth time.

Bookmakers don’t seem to trust them much and most of them have assigned them an odd of 18.00 while the best ones can be found on Betfair Exchange and 188BET.

They give the Vikings a 19.00 and 20.00 odds respectively.

4. 4 Teams Have Never Played In The Super Bowl

As of 2017, there are 4 teams that have never managed to reach the Super Bowl.

These are the Cleveland Browns, the Detroit Lions, the Houston Texans, and finally the Jacksonville Jaguars.

However, the Browns and the Lions have won NFL championships but that was before the Super Bowl was created.

When it comes to the Super Bowl 2018 where to place bets can be a question we all want to ask but never seem to be able to get some good answers. This stops now.

The absolute best online bookmakers where you can place a bet on the Super Bowl are Bet365, William Hill, and Betfair Exchange and for our American friends, Bovada should be the place for you.

5. The Biggest Stadium

Most of the NFL teams have big enough stadiums to sit all of their fans when the time calls for that.

Although the biggest one is the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum which the Los Angeles Rams use until their own stadium gets finished.

It has 93,607 seats.

Compared to the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis where the Super Bowl 2018 will take place on Sunday, February 4 it is pretty big.

The Vikings’ stadium can only sit 66,655 people. Although it has opened just about 15 months ago in July 22nd, 2016 and it has a construction cost of 1.129$ billion so it’s state of the art and it will be an absolute blast to witness the next Super Bowl there.

6. So Much Guacamole

Each year an average of about 3.6 million kilograms of guacamole is consumed in the day of the Super Bowl.

This goes to show how much interesting the game is as people get tired from cheering for their favourite team so much that they consume an amount like that.

However, you can’t eat so much Guacamole on its own and this is why an approximate of 14,500 tons of chips are eaten alongside the popular snack.

It would be a good idea to buy some stock on the major chips companies prior to the event.

They are going to sell so much that their stocks value will reach the sky.

After all Super Bowl is the second-largest day of the year in the US when it comes to eating food.

Thanksgiving is the first of course!

7. Lombardi Trophy

Did you ever think about where the trophy got its name from?

Take a guess.

If you thought it was from one of the biggest sponsors of the NFL or the first MVP in NFL’s history you would be wrong.

It got its name from Vince Lombardi.

This man was the Green Bay Packers’ coach when the team won the first Super Bowl to ever be held in NFL’s history.

Because of that, the trophy that is given to the winners of the event is named after him to honour his legacy.

It is worth 50,000$, it’s about 21 inches high and its weight is 3.2 kilograms.

It is made by Tiffany & Co and it is entirely out of sterling silver.

8. A family Rivalry

Back in 2013 when the 47th Super Bowl took place the two teams that played in the final match were the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers.

The Ravens managed to win but this isn’t the interesting part.

What was really peculiar about that Super Bowl is that the coaches of the two opposing teams were brothers.

This has never happened before not only in the NFL history but in the NBA, NHL, and the MLB. It was also the first time something like that happened in a post-season match.

I wish there was a bet about the head coaches of a team being related because if there was someone would be a millionaire now, provided he had placed a money on that odd.

Unfortunately, there isn’t such a speciality bet so you would have to limit your bets to the odds we already have at our disposal.

9. Even More Money

Most people don’t know this one.

Every year the team that wins the Super Bowl isn’t the only one to receive the prize.

The MVP of each Super Bowl gets paid by Disneyland to sponsor their business for that year.

10. Put A Ring On It

The NFL has to pay for about 150 rings per year that will be given out to the winners of the Super Bowl.

Each of those rings has an approximate cost of about 5,000$ plus any expenses for additional gold and diamonds parts.

On top of that they also pay for about 150 jewellery items that will be held out to the losing team but according to some reputable sources, they may not worth more than half the cost of one ring.

This is what we had in store for you and now before we leave you we would like to give you some betting tips regarding the upcoming Super Bowl 2018.

Just like we told you previously some of the best online bookmakers are Bet365, Betfair Exchange, William Hill and Bovada if you are based in the US. All of them have great odds but who should you place money on?

At the time of this writing, the leading teams in each conference are the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans, Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, and finally the Los Angeles Rams.

So if you want to place a bet make sure you go with one of those teams as the chances of them winning are the best ones that exist right now.

If you wanted to know about some great betting odds we provided them to you.

We hope you enjoyed our article about 10 things you didn’t know about Super Bowl as much as we enjoyed researching and finally writing it.
